Frequently asked questions
What is Mao Zhi Ming?
Mao Zhi Ming is a quiet online memorial garden made specifically for cats. Visitors can create a memorial, explore the shared garden, and leave a symbolic flower, yarn ball, or little fish.
Is it free to create a cat memorial?
Yes. Creating a memorial and leaving the available symbolic keepsakes are currently free. The garden does not ask for payment during memorial creation.
Do I need an account?
No account is currently required. Memorial management access is connected to the browser used to create it, so clearing that browser's local data may remove access to the 'My cats' controls.
What can I include in a memorial?
A memorial can include the cat's name, a message of up to 120 characters, an optional photograph, and one of three statuses: remembered, missing, or by my side.
Are memorials public?
Yes. Memorials placed in the current shared garden can be seen by visitors. Do not include addresses, phone numbers, account details, or other sensitive personal information in a message or photograph.
Can I share a memorial with family and friends?
Yes. Each memorial can be opened inside the garden and shared using its direct garden link. The link returns visitors to that memorial within Mao Zhi Ming.
Can I remove a memorial?
Yes, if the browser still recognizes you as the creator. Removing a memorial permanently deletes its name, message, photograph, and keepsakes, and the action cannot be undone.
Is the garden only for cats who have died?
No. A memorial can remember a cat who has died, keep a place for a missing cat, or celebrate a cat who is still by your side.
Does Mao Zhi Ming provide grief counseling?
No. The garden offers a place for remembrance, not medical care, counseling, crisis support, or professional mental-health treatment.
